Cystitis

What is Cystitis?

Cystitis is a common urinary tract infection (UTI) that leads to inflammation of the bladder. It often occurs when the bladder is not emptied fully or when the urethra becomes irritated or damaged.

Symptoms of Cystitis

Cystitis can cause a range of symptoms, including:

-Frequent urge to urinate
-A burning sensation or pain while urinating
-Cloudy or strong-smelling urine
-Discomfort or pain in the lower abdomen

In mild cases, cystitis may resolve on its own within a few days. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice from your pharmacy or GP. While cystitis is more common in women, men and children experiencing these symptoms should consult their GP, as it may indicate other underlying health issues.

Treatment for Cystitis

Cystitis is typically treated with antibiotics, which can relieve symptoms within 24 hours. To prevent aggravating the condition, it’s advisable to avoid sexual activity until the infection is fully treated.

At M&D Green Pharmacy, after a brief consultation with our pharmacist, we can provide an effective treatment for cystitis.
