Independent Prescribing Pharmacists
We are pleased to announce that 3 of our pharmacists have now completed the Independent Prescribing Course with many more expected to complete by the end of 2021
The Independent Prescribing qualification creates opportunities for patients to access an extended healthcare resource in their community and gain valuable information about their health. The pharmacists have learned key clinical skills such as taking blood pressure measurements, assessing pulse, examining ears and recording respiratory rate. The skills learned throughout this year will enhance the services offered, specifically Pharmacy First through specific branches with Independent Prescribers. This is in line with the vision of the Scottish Government for community pharmacy reducing pressure on our General Practitioners and up-skilling our community healthcare professionals to offer faster access to care.
