About us

Melville Chemist is located in the new parade of shops on Auchenlarie Drive, off Fernhill Road, in the area to the South of Rutherglen between Cathkin and Castlemilk known as Fernhill. It is accessed from Burnside Road on the East and Mill Street / Fernhill Road on the West. The pharmacy can be accessed by bus using First Bus No 20. There is also ample parking at the front of the shops. This includes three disabled parking spaces at the front door.

Our friendly and experienced team have been working in Fernhill for many years and are very much part of the local community. We pride ourselves on providing the best service to each individual patient and endeavour to meet their needs in every way possible. We do this by offering a wide range of services including: NHS and private prescriptions, public health promotion and advice, smoking cessation services, sexual health services, the NHS Pharmacy First Service and the NHS Medication: Care and Review Service.

We offer repeat prescription ordering and collection services from a wide range of local surgeries on a daily basis. Completed prescriptions can then be collected from the pharmacy or delivered direct to your door by appropriately trained pharmacy staff, who will pass on any information from the pharmacist and also take any questions you may have about your medicines back to the pharmacist who will give you a call with the necessary advice.

We also provide a medicines management service through which we assess and supply compliance aids for those who struggle to remember to take their medicine and we work closely with the GP practice to synchronise your medicines so they all finish at the same time.
