About Us

John Wood Street Pharmacy is situated on the corner of John Wood Street and King Street in Port Glasgow town centre in Inverclyde, and is just a short walk from Port Glasgow Health Centre. Our pharmacy provides an efficient service in a friendly manner and our staff takes pride in helping our patients as best they can.

The pharmacy provides a prescription collection and delivery service extending from Kilmacolm to Gourock. Our delivery drivers collect from all local surgeries in Port Glasgow twice daily, and surgeries in Kilmacolm and Greenock once daily at our patients’ request.

Having recently undergone a significant renovation, the pharmacy is equipped with two private areas for patient consultations and giving advice, and also has disabled access.

Our pharmacy has staff trained for the smoking cessation programme, who welcome anyone looking for advice or is interested in stopping smoking with the use of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). Our pharmacist is also qualified to prescribe Varenicline (Champix) and is willing to provide assessments for those who wish to join the programme.

The Minor Ailment service allows patients to receive advice and treatment for minor conditions on the NHS without the need for a GP appointment.

The Pharmacy First service was recently launched in Inverclyde which allows all patients, who are registered with a GP in Inverclyde, to receive treatment for conditions such as impetigo, shingles and uncomplicated urinary tract infections from their local pharmacy. Patients will always receive professional advice from our trained pharmacist, and may even have medicine prescribed for them if suitable.

John Wood Street pharmacy is a member of the Palliative Care Network, prioritising patients receiving end of life care treatment at home, these patients can have their medication dispensed and delivered as needed.

Patients who require additional support can be provided with a compliance aid to organise their medication, if necessary. This service can be arranged by the pharmacy team and can also be delivered on a weekly basis.

Our pharmacist is also trained to provide additional services such as Emergency Hormonal Contraception and private flu vaccinations.
